Night School:
Granite Hill School offers a night school option for students who are looking to
expand their employment skills while maintaining progress in their required academic courses.
Students who participate in this program are required to attend 5 nights of school, Monday
through Friday from 2:30 - 5:30 pm or 3:00 - 6:00 pm. Courses offered include English, Math,
Social Studies and Science. Additionally students are required to complete a minimum of 15
documented hours at a community service site, an internship or a job placement. Granite Hill
School's full time Vocational Trainer can provide additional job placement support as needed.
Work Study:
Students who have demonstrated a high level of responsibility and social maturity are
eligible for the Work Study Program. This program, overseen by the vocational trainer,
offers students on the job training and skill attainment in exchange for classroom coursework.
Students are required to identify employment interests and goals, which are part of a Learning
Plan, which is monitored and assessed by the student, employer, and vocational trainer. Upon completion
of the Learning Plan, academic credit is assigned.
Summer School: Granite Hill School offers a summer school option for students who are in need
of credit recovery, additional support and/or continuous academics. This program is offered during the
month of July for 20 days. Hours are typically from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm during a 4 day week. High School
students are able to receive a full academic credit during this time. Junior High students will be exposed
to an “outdoor classroom” while receiving academic instruction in core content areas. Related
Services are also available during the summer session.
Residential Option:
Male students who require supports throughout the entire day have an opportunity to receive residential services through the Orion House. The Orion House program stresses the same pro-social goals as Granite Hill School -as well as life skills training in a nurturing, home-like setting. The residence is a comfortable, well-maintained home with a seasoned staff, and years of experience in providing services to youth.
