Granite Hill School Wellness Updates

Triennial Wellness Assessment Tracking Outcomes

We can see the finish line!

It is hard to believe that we are already coming up on the home stretch. April break is next week, and when we return, we will hit the ground running.

Once we return from a week of rest, teachers will be preparing 4th-quarter progress reports. We will have just over a month before the end of the school year. The last day of school will be June 10th.

Please keep these other important dates in mind:

May 15th – Prom

June 9th – Graduation and Underclassmen Celebration

June 10th – Middle School Celebration and Last Day of School

Spring is in the Air

As we settle in and adjust to the time change, there are exciting changes at GHS as well. Progress reports went home last week. Report cards will be out at the beginning of April.

Students have transitioned back to outdoor activities for wellness. We are also excited to announce that all school sportsball will be making its return as soon as the field dries out.

Over the last few weeks GHS has been completing some fundraising. We hosted 2 bake sales at Sugar River Bank. We are thankful to Sugar River Bank for hosting us. With staff support, students really took the lead on this project. The culinary class baked and packaged the goods. Students designed the advertisements and had the chance to engage with community members during the bake sale. 100% of the funds raised benefit students via prom, school attire, and end of the year activities.

New Beginnings

Students have finished their first semester classes. Report cards with those grades will be sent home soon. Students have transitioned to new classes and are settling in.

We wanted to share some information on Blizzard Bags. Students have been sent home with Blizzard Bags. In the event that school needs to close due to weather we may implement the use of Blizzard Bags. This will be indicated on WMUR where our closing will be listed. Students have been provided with work that is to be completed on a Blizzard Bag day. The work is able to be done without the use of technology and is expected to be returned the day after a blizzard bag day. Please reach out with any questions or concerns.

Welcome to 2026

GHS is excited to be back at school after the holiday break. We had a great first week back. We hit the ground running. First semester ends on Friday, January 16th. Students will be switching classes at the start of the second semester. We are currently working on putting that schedule together and students will soon know what their classes for the next semester will be. In order to support our staff with the change in classes, we have added a teacher work day to our calendar on Tuesday, January 20th. There will be no school for students on this day.

Monday the 19th is also a Holiday and there will be no school.

We are excited to announce that Granite Hill School will be participating in Newport’s annual Winter Carnival this year. Our students are currently working on a float to represent GHS at the Winter Carnival Parade in February. We look forward to joining this long standing tradition.

Reminders

As we enter the winter months, we wanted to share a few reminders.

  • During the holiday season, please check GHS’ school calendar as our schedule may be different from your local district.  Students should follow GHS’ calendar for school breaks and days off.
  • We will continue to participate in activities outside through the winter months. Students should come dressed accordingly. Should students need help in acquiring proper attire, please reach out to the school or see our “Community Resources” tab.
  • GHS uses WMUR News 9 as the designated location where school closings are posted. These closings are also listed online at www.wmur.com. Once you go to their website, click on the tab for closings, and you will see Granite Hill School listed. Granite Hill School DOES NOT do a phone message or email to families when school is canceled.
  • If your home district closes due to weather, your child will not be expected to attend school and transportation will not be provided.
  • If your home district has a delay, transportation will be provided at the new time of opening.
